AIST Member Chapter Scholarships
In total, there are 21 AIST Member Chapters, all of which strive to issue annual scholarships to qualified individuals within their local region.
AIST Baltimore Chapter Scholarship - (Application deadline is April 30)
One (1) $1,500 one-year scholarship
Administered by the AIST Baltimore Member Chapter, this scholarship was established for children or grandchildren of a member in good standing, studying engineering or metallurgy at an accredited college or university for a career in the iron and steel industry.
AIST Birmingham Chapter Scholarship - (Application deadline is April 30)
One (1) $1,000 one-year scholarship
Administered by the AIST Birmingham Member Chapter, this scholarship will be awarded annually to a child or spouse of an AIST Birmingham Chapter member in good standing. The applicant must be an undergraduate student enrolled full-time and majoring in the field of engineering an accredited North American university and have a demonstrated interest in a career, or plans to pursue a career, in the iron and steel industry.
AIST Detroit Chapter Scholarships - (Application deadline is April 30)
Up to Two (2) Totalling $5,000 One-year scholarships
Administered by the AIST Detroit Member Chapter, this scholarship will be awarded annually to a child or grandchild of an AIST Detroit Chapter member in good standing for two or more consecutive years. The applicant must be an undergraduate student enrolled full-time and majoring in the field of engineering, metallurgy or materials science at an accredited North American university and have a demonstrated interest in a career, or plans to pursue a career, in the iron and steel industry.
AIST Globetrotters Chapter Scholarships (Application deadline is April 30)
(4) $2,500 one-year scholarships
Administered by the Globetrotters Member Chapter, these scholarships were established for children of members. To be eligible, the Globetrotters member must also be a current member of AIST. The candidate for the scholarship must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university. Students enrolled in postgraduate schools will also be considered. The candidate will be selected by the Globetrotters Scholarship Committee. The Globetrotters' Executive Committee will determine the amount of the scholarships.
AIST Midwest Chapter Scholarships (Application deadline is March 15th)

Two (2) $1,500 one-year scholarship
Administered by the AIST Midwest Member Chapter, these scholarships were established for area students to encourage them to prepare for a career in engineering, metallurgy or the physical sciences.
AIST Northeastern Ohio Chapter - (Application deadline is April 30 )
- Alfred B. Glossbrenner Scholarship
One (1) $2,000 one-year scholarship
- John Klusch Scholarships
One (1) $2,000 one-year scholarship
Administered by the AIST Canton Section, the Alfred B. Glossbrenner Scholarship was established in 1988 in honor of the founding chairman of the AISE Canton District Section for sons and daughters of members. In 1996, a second scholarship was established in honor of John Klusch, who served for more than 35 years as Canton Section Secretary. The scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic achievements in science to students who plan to study engineering or metallurgy.
AIST Northwest Chapter Scholarship - (Application deadline is April 30)
Two (2) $1,000 one-year scholarships
The objectives of the AIST Northwest Member Chapter Scholarship are to reward and encourage a Pacific Northwest area student to prepare for a career in engineering by providing a one-time grant of financial support during at least half-time attendance at any accredited university or college.
AIST Ohio Valley Chapter Scholarship - (Application deadline is March 31)
Two (2) $1,000 one-year scholarships
Administered by the AIST Ohio Valley Member Chapter, this scholarship is available to students who are dependents of Ohio Valley Member Chapter members or members of Material Advantage pursuing an education in engineering, metallurgy, physical science, computer technology or an engineering technology field.
AIST Pittsburgh Chapter Scholarship - (Application deadline is April 30)
- Lawrence G. Maloney Scholarship
One (1) $2,500 one-year scholarship
- Pittsburgh Chapter Scholarship
Up to two (2) $2,500 one-year scholarship
Administered by the AIST Pittsburgh Member Chapter, these scholarships are available to the children, grandchildren or spouse of a member of the Pittsburgh Member Chapter who is in good standing. The applicant must be preparing for a career in engineering or metallurgy.
AIST San Francisco Member Chapter Scholarship - (Application deadline is April 30)
One (1) $1,500 one-year scholarship
Administered by the AIST San Francisco Member Chapter, this scholarship was established for children (including step-children, adopted children or wards), grandchildren, nieces, nephews or the spouses of an active AIST San Francisco Chapter member. The student must be accepted into, planning to attend, or currently enrolled in an eligible, full-time curriculum at an accredited university or college.
AIST Southeast Chapter Scholarship - (Application deadline is April 30)
- Gene Suave Scholarship
One (1) $3,000 one-year scholarship
Administered by the AIST Southeast Member Chapter, this scholarship rewards and encourages an AIST Southeast Chapter high school senior or college undergraduate student, prepare for a career in engineering or the sciences, by providing a grant of financial support during attendance, full or part time, at any accredited university or college.
International Member Chapter Scholarships
AIST Mexico Member Chapter Scholarships
Administered by the AIST Mexico Member Chapter and jointly funded by the chapter and several Mexican steel companies, AIST-INDUSTRIA scholarships are available to undergraduate students registered in any of the last three semesters of academic programs at Mexican universities or colleges.
