AIST Foundation Scholarships
The AIST Foundation will be awarding
11 scholarships in addition to 10 FeMET Scholarships, 10 STEEL Scholarships and member
chapter scholarships for the 2008-2009 school year.

accepted beginning in December 2007
AIST Foundation Scholarships
AIST Ronald E. Lincoln Memorial Scholarship - (Application deadline is March 2)
- two (2) $3,000 one-year scholarships
will be awarded for the 2008-2009 school year.
Administered by the AIST Foundation, this scholarship
was established by Chaparral Steel as a tribute to Ronald
Lincoln and is awarded to individuals who best exemplify
the qualities of leadership and innovation for which Mr.
Lincoln was so well known throughout his career. Scholarships
will be granted to full-time undergraduate students with
a genuine demonstrated interest in a career in the iron
and steel industry and majoring
in the field of engineering, metallurgy or materials science
field at an accredited U.S. college or university. Click

Willy Korf Memorial Fund - (Application deadline is March 2)
- three
(3) $3,000 one-year scholarships will be awarded for
the 2008-2009 school year.
Administered by the AIST Foundation, this scholarship
was established by Korf Lurgi Steeltec, Inc. to honor
the late Willy Korf, Founder of the Korf Group and
a well-known promoter/developer of innovative technology.
Scholarships will be granted to full-time undergraduate
students with a genuine demonstrated interest in a
career in the iron and steel industry and majoring
in the field of engineering, metallurgy or materials
science at an accredited U.S. college or university. Click

AIST Benjamin F. Fairless Scholarship (AIME) - (Application deadline is March 2)
- three (3) $2,000 one-year
scholarships will be awarded for the 2008-2009 school
year.
This scholarship is administered by the AIST Foundation
on behalf of the American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical
and Petrolium Engineers (AIME). The Fairless Award was
established in 1954 by a grant from U.S. Steel Corp. in
memory of its longtime Chairman of the Board. The scholarship
recipient is selected from candidates in the leading metallurgical
departments in North America.Click

William E. Schwabe Memorial Scholarship - (Application deadline is March 2)
- One $3,000 one-year scholarship
will be awarded for the 2008-2009 school year.
Administered by the AIST Foundation, this scholarship
was established in 2005 by the Steel Manufacturers Association
(SMA) to commemorate the life and industry service of
Mr. Schwabe, a pioneer in the application of electrical
engineering technology to the advancement and refinement
of electric arc furnace steelmaking. Scholarships will
be granted annually to an undergraduate student enrolled
full-time and majoring in the field of engineering, metallurgy
or materials science program at an accredited North American
university. The applicant should have a demonstrated interest
in a career, or plans to pursue a career, in the iron
and steel industry.Click

AIST
David H. Samson Scholarship - (Application deadline is June 30)
- one (1) $2,000 four-year
fixed scholarship will be awarded for 2008-2012.
This scholarship, administered by the AIST Northern Member Chapter on behalf
of the AIST Foundation, was established for children of
AIST members who are a Canadian citizens. The student must be accepted
in an eligible full-time course studying engineering at an accredited
Canadian university or college. Click

Don Nelson Scholarship - (Application deadline is March 15)
- one (1) $1,000 one-year scholarship
will be awarded for the 2008-2009 school year.
Administered by the AIST
Midwest Member Chapter on behalf of the AIST Foundation,
this scholarship was established for area students to encourage
them to prepare for a career in engineering.
Recipients
of the above AIST Foundation Scholarship will receive a complimentary
student membership to the Material
Advantage Student program, for each year they receive
a scholarship.
