SCHOLARSHIP Guidelines
(Lincoln, Korf, Fairless, Schwabe, and Smith)
AIST Foundation
Scholarship awards are intended to attract talented and dedicated
students and to encourage them to pursue careers within the iron and
steel industry. The AIST Foundation Board of Trustees administers
the scholarships, which are open to currently enrolled college students.
Students may re-apply each year.
Scholarship
Amount:
Eleven (11) scholarships will be awarded for the 2010-2011 school
year. In addition, recipients will receive a one-year Material Advantage
Membership. Applications must be received by March 4, 2011.
Eligibility
Requirements:

Applicant must be enrolled full-time in an engineering, metallurgy
or materials science program at an accredited North American university.
- Applicant
should have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Applicant
should have a demonstrated interest in a career in the iron and
steel industry.
Required
Documents:
- A
completed application form.

A current resume with work experience and any extracurricular
activities, noting any leadership positions.

An essay, not to exceed two pages in length, of your professional
goals explaining why you are interested in a career in the steel
industry, and how your skills could be applied to enhance the
industry.

Three letters of recommendation which address character, academic
status, leadership potential and career commitment from:
a. the applicant's college academic advisor,
b. a professor,
c. an external source, preferably a previous employer.

A current academic transcript or other official documentation
of academic standing and performance.
