AIST Foundation Scholarships and Grants
AIST Foundation scholarships are awarded on an annual basis to talented and dedicated students to encourage them to pursue careers within iron-and steel-related industries. Over US$500,000 is awarded each year through scholarships and grants as detailed below.

AIST Foundation Scholarship:
Open to materials science, metallurgical, electrical, mechanical, industrial, chemical, environmental, and computer engineering majors–apply during Freshman, Sophomore and Junior years. By submitting one application, you will be considered for all scholarships listed below, with the exception of the Samson Scholarship specific to Canadian students.
AIST Ronald E. Lincoln Memorial Scholarship—(2) US$3,000
AIST Willy Korf Memorial Fund—(3) US$3,000
AIST Benjamin F. Fairless Scholarship (AIME)—(2) US$3,000 - Awards vary (up to US$6,000 each year)
AIST William E. Schwabe Memorial Scholarship—(1) US$3,000
AIST Smith Graduate Scholarship (AIME)—Awards vary (up to US$6,000 total each year) apply during Senior year.
AIST David H. Samson Scholarship—(1) US$3,000

FeMET Scholarship:
Open to metallurgy and materials science engineering majors–apply during Sophomore year. By submitting this application, you will be considered for the FeMET, StEEL, and Premier Scholarships.
Year 1—US$5,000
A paid summer internship.
Year 2—US$5,000
FeMET Design Grant—US$50,000 per grant per year
FeMET Curriculum Development Program—US$5,000/per year up to 5 years |

Steel Engineering Education Link [STEEL] Scholarship:
Open to electrical, mechanical, industrial, chemical, computer and environmental science engineering majors–apply during Sophomore year. By submitting this application, you will be considered for the StEEL and Premier Scholarships.
Year 1—US$5,000
A paid summer internship.
Year 2—US$5,000

AISI/AIST Foundation Premier Scholarship:
Awarded to the top scoring FeMET and StEEL applications received. By submitting this application you will be considered for either the FeMET or StEEL scholarship, depending on your major.

New Junior Faculty Award:
To increase the number of younger engineering professors with a vested interest in the iron and steel industry. The award, open to all technical engineering disciplines, will assist junior faculty in building their research and professional service activities towards obtaining tenure. |
